- In detail
Fir oil is a clear liquid, colorless or with a yellowish tinge. Has a fresh, rich coniferous aroma.
The composition of fir essential oil is truly unique. It includes more than 35 biologically active compounds in a balanced ratio, which determines its healing properties. Among them are:
- Bornyl acetate - the main and most important component of fir oil, is a complex ether mixture of borneol and acetic acid (the higher its content in the composition, the more valuable the oil is);
- Monoterpene hydrocarbons are chemically active substances that are rarely found in nature;
- Large amounts of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and vitamin E (tocopherol);
- Organic acids (lauric, oleic, nylon, etc. );
Application in medicine, in cosmetology.
Storage conditions and shelf life
Since the essential oils of conifers decompose when exposed to sunlight and oxidize when exposed to oxygen, fir oil should be stored in a dark place (preferably in a glass container) under a tightly closed lid. Storage temperature from 0 to + 25C.
If all these conditions are met, essential fir oil can be stored for up to two years.
